  1.       These login images are designed for use with NeXTSTEP 3.1.
  2.      DO NOT USE THESE IMAGES WITH EARLIER VERSIONS OF NeXTSTEP!!!

  4. NeXT changed the login panel with Release 3.1.  Hence, all the neat-o
  5. custom login images that are out there are going to have to be
  6. converted to work with the new OS.
  7.  
  8. These are my contributions.  I converted the monochrome Bloom County
  9. logins.  First, I colorized them for use with my 3.0 color slab.  When
  10. I upgraded to 3.1, I modified them to work with the new version.  I
  11. also added a new character to the set -- Bill the Cat!  These tiffs
  12. contain both 2 bit grayscale and 12 bit color versions, so they should
  13. make any system happy.  I haven't tested this yet, though, so be
  14. warned.

  16. Here's what you do to install the login panel of your choice...

  20. > dwrite loginwindow ImageFile /LocalLibrary/Images/Logins/login.tiff
  21.   logout (from the Workspace)
  22.   login as exit

  25. Of course, you should replace the file name with whatever path and
  26. file is appropriate to your system and your taste in Bloom County
  27. characters :-)

  29. When the login window reappears, you should see the new login panel.
